St Andrew's 2025 Harvest Thanksgiving Service

On behalf of everyone at Aberdeenshire North Food Bank, I would like to pass on to everyone at St Andrew’s our sincere thanks for the very generous donation given as a result of your recent Harvest Thanksgiving celebrations. Your food donations weighed in at a fantastic 107.9 kg and will go a long way to allowing us to keep supporting families living in food poverty in our local communities.

We are so dependent on local people, like yourselves, giving us their support in this way because our current statistics do not make for comfortable reading. In September, across our network of five food banks in Inverurie, Huntly, Ellon, Peterhead and Fraserburgh, we took in 3878.24 kg of food donations, but we distributed 4511.14 kg in food parcels, and we can obviously not sustain this level of discrepancy for too long. Thankfully, October has seen many schools and churches, like yourselves, celebrating Harvest, often by collecting food specifically for our use, so I am hopeful – but by no means confident! - that this month’s figures will make for happier reading.

In terms of how many people that food helped, across the network in September, the 256 parcels we distributed fed 323 adults and 111 children. More specifically, our Inverurie Food Bank during September provided 51 parcels to households, feeding 62 adults and 26 children. It is only because of generous support like yours that we can continue to do what we do.

Once again, our heartfelt thanks go to all of you at St Andrew’s for your continuing support.
