Cuppa and Chat Drop In Update
This is an update to everybody on how the Cuppa And Chat at St Andrew’s Church is doing. Since we started the Cuppa and Chat Drop-In at St Andrew’s Church on the 1st and 3rd Friday of each month we have been delighted by the response of the people who come along for a Cuppa and a Chat.
The visitors and friends attending every other Friday have commented on the relaxed social aspect of the Drop-In and of course the Cuppa and Biscuits are free. We are extremely fortunate to have a team of volunteers who give of their time to provide this amazing venture at St Andrew’s church and to each of them I am incredibly grateful.
Due to the holiday season coming up it was agreed to take the month of July off and start again on 1st August 2025 and continue on each 1st and 3rd Friday of the month. May I thank you all who have come along for a Cuppa And A Chat in the last year and I look forward to meeting more of you in the next coming months.

Social Successes!
This Autumn the Social Committee, led by their wonderful convenor, Molly, has
organised two very happy events. The Soup & Sweet on Saturday 11th October
attracted over 150 folk, who sang along to the glorious music provided by
Charlie Esson and Bill Aiken, as well as listening to the well loved songs sung by
Peter Taggart and Jim Stuart. As usual the delicious home made soups and sweets
were greatly appreciated. Our thanks to the hard working Committee and
volunteers. £1,770.00 was raised.
On Saturday 22nd November Molly and her team held a splendid Christmas After-
noon Tea, attended by some 130 people (despite the snowy and icy weather), who
were treated to mouth wateringly good sandwiches, sausage rolls and wonderful
homebakes. Beautiful Christmas decorations and lovely flowers bedecked the Old
Hall and the Old Chapel, giving everyone the exciting feeling that Christmas is just
round the corner. Added to all this was a terrific Craft Fair held in Polly’s Room
and the front hall of the church. Our guests who came to the Afternoon Tea
thoroughly appreciated the effort and inspiration that went into making this event
such a success. Again, thanks to the dedicated Committee and volunteers.
£1,360.00 was raised.
Finally, just to remind you that raffle tickets for Molly’s Cracking Christmas Ham-
pers are still available. Please contact either Molly (01467 620612) or Linsey at
the Church Office (01467 628740) for tickets. The draw will take place on Sunday
14th December during coffee after the service.
I have thanked the Social Committee and the other volunteers, not forgetting the
gentlemen who cleared away the tables at the end of the afternoon, for their out-
standing hard work but I must make a very special mention of Molly. She is the
driving force behind all the events. St Andrew’s thanks you Molly, for everything
you do—the community spirit you create, the coming together of folk from over
Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire, and the all important fun and fellowship that is
engendered by your events. You are a STAR!
