Candlelight Concerts
The Candlelight Concert held in the church in May 2026 was a tremendous success. Over 450 people attended across two performances, enjoying a wonderful instrumental tribute to Coldplay.
The church was aglow with hundreds of candles (see photo), creating a magical atmosphere that delighted everyone present. Such was the popularity of the event that plans have been made to host further candlelight concerts in the future. These will take place on the following dates:
Friday 11th September 2026: “Queen & Elton John”
Saturday 30th January 2027: “Fleetwood Mac”.
Variety Concert
On Saturday, 22nd August, our Social Committee held a Variety Concert within the Church. The music was performed by Murray Cowie, accordionist, and Martha Murray on piano and vocals. A truly outstanding display of talent was enjoyed by nearly 200 people in attendance. The programme included Scottish, Country and 70s music, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the wonderful performance. Our Minister, Carl Irvine, gave the Vote of Thanks, after which refreshments were served in the Hall. A fantastic amount of £1,950.00 was raised for church funds. Of course, none of this would be possible without the tremendous work and organisation of Molly and her team. A huge thank you to all!
‘Christmas Sales’ Table
Barnardo’s cards and other seasonal goods will be on sale after the church service and during coffee on Sundays 4th, 11th, 18th and 25th October. For many years St Andrew’s congrega-tion has supported Barnardo’s Scotland by buying cards, notebooks, wrapping & tissue paper, candles etc. Some £400.00 has been raised each year and this money has helped vulnerable children and young people in Scotland. Our volunteer committee (Bennachie Barnardo’s Helpers Group) is so grateful for your much appreciated generosity. Kit
Christmas Raffle
It's that time of year again! Tickets for the Christmas Raffle will soon be on sale. Thanks to our wonderful Social Convenor, Molly, a magnificent array of prizes, gifted by generous donors, will be there to be won when the Raffle is drawn after the service on Sunday 13th December. As usual, tickets will be delivered with the November church magazines. Tickets may also be obtained from Molly (01467 620612) or from the church office from mid October to 6th December. They will also be for sale after the church services in November and on Sunday 5th December. The Raffle has always enjoyed great support and your help this year will, once more, be tremendously appreciated. With thanks to you all for your generosity. Kit
Musical treat at St Andrew's Church
On Saturday the 10th October 2026 the people who were lucky to be able to attend the Organ and Piano Recital concert held by Brian Smith and Adrian Dean were entertained to the highest level. Both Brian and Adrian were in the past organists at St Andrew’s Church and continue to enthral us with their amazing talents on the Organ and Piano. From the Overture L"Italiana In Algeri-G.Rossini, to the Warsaw Concerto-R.Addinsell, the audience were spellbound with the abilities of both Brian and Adrian harmoniously playing magnificent pieces of music especially arranged for the concert.
A massive thanks goes to all involved in making this event such a huge success, including the people making the Teas and Cakes, the guys on the Sound Systems, the people who organised this event and especially Brian and Adrian for giving of their time and talents freely for supporting St Andrew’s Church, a donation plate at the door raised £400 for church funds and thank you to everyone who contributed.
